THE RISKS

People with heart disease, including hypertension, congestive heart failure, and coronary heart disease have a higher risk of getting infected and having severe COVID-19 symptoms. Individuals who have had strokes are also at increased risk.

PREVENTING THE SPREAD

The best way to avoid getting ill is to avoid exposure to the virus by staying home. If you must go out, stay at least 6 feet away from others. Wash your hands often and disinfect high touch surfaces.

BE PREPARED

Preparing can help you minimize the number of times you have to leave your home. Stock up on groceries and household items or opt for to-your-car pick up or home delivery services.

MAINTAIN A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE

Do your best to maintain an active lifestyle. The American Heart Association has resources to help you build a workout routine at home. Take your medicine as directed and remember to eat heart-healthy meals.

STAY CONNECTED

Staying in contact with friends and loved ones is important. Phone and video calls are good ways to connect and offer support without taking any risks.
